Diesel’s Forever Home: A Gentle Story of Love, Loss, and Heaven is a heartfelt Christian children’s book created to help families talk about the loss of a beloved pet with comfort, faith, and hope.
Inspired by Diesel, a gentle and loving Sheltie, the story reassures children that love does not end after goodbye and that the animals who touch our hearts are never forgotten.
Written for ages 5–9, the book gives parents, grandparents, counselors, and caregivers a meaningful way to discuss grief, remembrance, Heaven, and the lasting bond between children and their pets.
Diesel was gentle, loving, loyal, and always seemed to want everyone around him to be happy.
Diesel’s Forever Home was written in his honor, with the hope that his story may bring comfort to children and families facing the loss of a beloved pet.
His story is a reminder that love does not end and that the pets who touch our hearts are never forgotten.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Richard Degenhardt created Diesel Publications in memory of his beloved Sheltie, Diesel.
Diesel’s gentle heart, loving spirit, and comforting presence inspired Richard to write a story that could help children and families find peace after the loss of a beloved pet.
Through Diesel Publications, Richard hopes to create meaningful children’s books centered on love, faith, family, healing, and hope.
A portion of the author royalties from Diesel’s Forever Home will be donated to RedRover, a nonprofit organization that helps pet caregivers obtain urgent veterinary care.
This mission is in honor of Diesel and the love he gave us. My hope is that his story not only brings comfort to families grieving the loss of a beloved pet, but also helps support families facing difficult veterinary emergencies.
